doctor deprivation

After *finally* getting to see Doomsday and (like every other woman in the appropriate demographic) bawling in quite a ridiculous fashion, I decided to make icons in a desperate bid to disguise the fact that I have NOTHING LEFT TO WATCH!!!

frustration

So I received my new "region-free" dvd player a few days ago. Was very happy about this, as the point of my purchase was so I could buy UK Doctor Who dvds and watch them (yes, obsessed, I recognize this, let's move on). Just received my first two DW dvds today, popped one in the dvd player, and the following message came up:

"region error"

WTF???

I had checked this item to make sure it played region 2 + 4, which it claimed to do. Apparently, it does not. Which means that I now have to try and return the thing, or resell it (it works fine on regular dvds, nothing wrong there....) Just v v frustrated, as I was looking forward to sighing over some Tennant, and now I have to get a new dvd player and go through this blimmin ordeal. Not fun.

Just thought I'd vent my frustration (whilst confessing my overzealous obsession at the same time, oh well).

At least I got my Blackpool DVD, which is an American Emmy consideration dvd so it works fine, and I was able to sigh over that to my heart's content.... sigh.

<-- did not fail hullaballoo

Figured out how to do that banner thing - in celebration (or, pretty much because I can't stop) I bring more Who iconnage. Even though I haven't even seen Series 2 yet, I'm falling in love with Ten more & more through screencaps alone... here's the breakdown:

[6] Ten/Rose
[2] Nine/Rose

techie questionne

So... how exactly does one put a banner on their LJ? I should know this, but I don't. I can make banners just fine, but how does one get the codey wherewithal to display such banners?

Anyone?

So, in honor of my new obsession, I present a Doctor Who icon post... they're all Nine or Nine/Rose with a couple of solo Rose, as well as a silly Jack one and an absurd Dalek one made at two in the morning. Enjoy, and credit if you use 'em...

Fantastic

So I rented Season One of Doctor Who from netflix, watched it all, fell in love with Christopher Eccleston and promptly bought it the next day so I could watch it over and over and over... you get the idea. And now I have shelled out the cash for a region-free dvd player and ordered the UK S2 volumes because I don't have cable here and I simply cannot wait to watch more and marvel over David Tennant and all the gloriousness that is Who.

So thanks to nobody in particular for this new driving obsession of mine. Thanks a bloody lot.

Got this one from [info]. Silly but fun.

Put iPod/iTunes on shuffle and answer the questions as the songs come up.

Your definitive personal philosophy: "Green Eyes" - Coldplay
Your dream job: "For Me & My Gal" - Gene Kelly/Judy Garland
Your love life: "Fix You" - Coldplay
Your personality: "#1 Crush" - Garbage
Your friends: "Weapon of Choice" - Fatboy Slim
Your appearance/looks: "Belle"  - Beauty & the Beast (so true...)
Your secret evil side: "Look What You've Done" - Jet
Your artistic taste: "Beauty & the Beast" - Beauty & the Beast
Your kink: "A Gaelic Blessing" - Abbey School Choir
What others think of you: "Jesus In a Camper Van" - Robbie Williams
What your ex thinks of you: "Yellow" - Coldplay
Your heartfelt inner poetry: "Stand In the World" - Marjorie Fair

So obviously I have a lot of Disney and Coldplay in my iPod, my friends think I'm Jesus and I have a kink for school choirs.

Good to know.

In Search

So I just got In Search of Shakespeare off my netflix...

As a Shakespeare geek to the utmost, I think I am in love. It's a wonderfully made, insightful and fun documentary, and there's also a companion book to it which I know I must get. Michael Wood is a genius.

It makes me wistful, also, to watch him travel over England, even though I've never been to any of the places he visited it still made me homesick. Ah, Britain. One day I shall return (and join the RSC, forthwith!)

I Have The Power!

So my roommate just bought The Best of She-Ra on DVD. One of the most kick-ass women in cartoons ever, quite frankly.

Now, I do recall watching She-Ra as a child. I had one video of it that I would watch over and over again. As an innocent 5-year-old I thought He-Man and She-Ra were boyfriend and girlfriend, until about ten years later I discovered they were actually brother and sister. Not that there was anything romantic between them considering the fact that I just discovered that HE-MAN WAS TOTALLY GAY.

It's good to know that there were positive gay role models in my childhood, even if I was unaware of them.

I had no idea. But his first line on the DVD was

"A work of art like my famous spiced bread takes time, Cringer."

Seriously. I mean, I should have known, just check out the pageboy.

Beautiful.
